Dropbox in Plain English (Cloud Storage)

Dropbox is one the main cloud storage service that people use. So what is cloud storage? Let’s say, you have a photo or a document which is so important for you. Here comes cloud storage very handy, all you do is sign up for a service (mostly free) such as dropbox, box, google drive or an iCloud. Many of them have a sync option, so you don’t have to worry about uploading files from your devices.

Basically, you put your things (documents, presentations, photos etc.) in dropbox and access it from any device; computer, tablet, phone or web.

It’s sometimes life saving when you forget your USB flash disk at home during the presentation day.

Teachers can use cloud storage in many ways especially when integrating with Google Drive and Google Docs. Students can upload their work and continue their document or presentation at home.

Write a story with kids

Storybird is another excellent website designed for teachers and students. Here is how they define themselves “Our idea: let anyone make gorgeous, art-inspired stories in seconds.”

There are many art pieces to choose and make your story easily. We are using storybird with grade 2 students. They are focusing on writing since the website provides art for the picture books.

Students can write stories collaboratively as well. If story is shared with other student, he can continue or make another page for the book in a different location.

In addition to that, one feature I like most is creating classroom library. Teachers can select the books for students and place it in library for students to read.

There are so many options needs to be explored. Please take a look at. Enjoy writing the stories.

Use kidblog for online portfolio

So, we are using kidblog for our Grade3, Grade4 and Grade 5 students for their digital/online portfolio. Students are posting their work or sharing the videos/photos that they think it’s related to class.
